EUROPEAN PEACE STRATEGY

FOR A SHARED, HUMAN-CENTERED FUTURE

Welcome to the official website of the European Peace Strategy.The European Peace Strategy is a civil society initiative presenting 42 concrete proposals for peace and security in Europe. It sets out a human-centered vision of security and brings together ideas on conflict prevention, disarmament, justice, democratic participation, human rights and human security.The Strategy is addressed to European States, European Union institutions, municipalities, civil society organisations and everyone working towards a more peaceful and secure Europe.It was initiated by the International Fellowship of Reconciliation – Austrian Branch, ICAN Austria and the Campaign to Stop Killer Robots Austria.The proposals are not intended as a final blueprint. They are an invitation to discussion, cooperation and action — and to rethink how peace and security in Europe can be strengthened through prevention, dialogue, international law, disarmament and meaningful participation.

Launch Event: Rethinking Peace and Security in Europe14 October 2026, at 17:30 hours

On 14 October, the European Peace Strategy will be officially presented at a public launch event in Vienna.The Strategy brings together 42 concrete proposals for an active, human-centered peace policy in Europe. Under the guiding idea “From reaction to prevention, from militarism to peace”, the event will explore how prevention, dialogue, international law, disarmament and meaningful participation can contribute to a more peaceful and secure Europe. This reflects the broader approach of the European Peace Strategy, which is designed as an invitation to discussion, cooperation and action.Representatives from politics, science and civil society will discuss the Strategy, its proposals and possible pathways towards strengthening peace and human security in Europe.MEP Thomas Waitz will address the guests via video message.Everyone interested in the future of European peace and security is warmly welcome.Registration
